Research Assistant / PhD Student in Embedded Systems

The position is devoted to one of the main challenges in the future: How can we design large-scale systems that efficiently use the available resources? In this context, we are interested in new theoretical and methodological concepts that provide guarantees on the expected system behavior in terms of energy demand, temperature and timing. Within the project, there are plenty of opportunities to cooperate with highly recognized national and international partners. There is the possibility to gain valuable experience in the emerging field of parallel and distributed embedded systems, cyber-physical systems and Internet of Things, in terms of new theoretical models and methods as well as in prototype systems. It is expected that a successful PhD thesis is written in a time frame of 3-4 years.

We are looking for candidates who hold a M.S. or equivalent degree with top performance in a field that is closely related to computer science or electrical engineering. They should have interest in conducting original highly competitive scientific research, publishing the results in top conferences and scientific journals, and participating in teaching duties. Maturity, self-motivation and the ability to work both independently and as team players in local and international research teams are expected. Post-doctoral Fellow in Embedded Systems


The research group on Computer Engineering at ETH Zurich (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology) has an opening for a post-doctoral fellow the field of embedded systems.

The position is devoted to highly competitive research in the area of embedded systems. The research is related to application domains such as multi-core and multi-processor systems, Internet of Things and Cyber-physical Systems. The postdoc position is related to new theoretical and methodological concepts that provide guarantees on the expected system behavior in terms of energy demand, temperature and timing. The main focus are multi-core and multi-processor architectures.

The Computer Engineering and Networks Laboratory offers a creative international environment, a possibility to conduct highly competitive research on a global scale and involvement in teaching. The responsibilities of the position include successful research in the emerging field of parallel and distributed embedded systems in terms of new theoretical models and methods and/or prototype systems. There are plenty of opportunities to cooperate with highly recognized national and international partners. In addition, active participation in research projects and leading a group of highly motivated Ph.D. students is expected.

We are looking for candidates with a Ph.D. degree in a field that is closely related to embedded systems. Post-doctoral Fellow in Sensor Networks

The position is devoted to scientific research in the area of sensor networks. The research is driven by our installations at several field sites in high alpine regions (permafrost research and early warning) as well as in the city of Zurich (air pollution monitoring). In addition, our focus has been on fundamental challenges like synchronization, highly dependable wireless protocols, network tomography, testing, formal verification methodologies, formal methods, and energy harvesting. There are plenty of opportunities to cooperate with highly recognized national and international partners. In addition, active participation in research projects and leading a group of highly motivated Ph.D. students is expected.

We are looking for candidates who hold a Ph.D. degree with top performance in a field that is closely related to sensor networks. He or she should have a track record in conducting original highly competitive scientific research and publishing the results in top conferences and scientific journals. Maturity, self-motivation and the ability to work both independently and as a team player in local and international research teams are expected.
